Coping With Unexpected Growth
The first of a series of ads for Minolta Copiers. The cool thing about this project was having such great headlines to work with, courtesy of AD Woody Litwhiler at Bozell, and also not having any visual reference to copier equipment in the art. After the photo shoot with my wifeÂ’s boss and his wife posing as farmers in a Connecticut strawberry field, we made a ton of jam!

There Are Times When Faster Is Decidedly Better
This was a blast to work on, and for an amateur cryptozoologist it doesnÂ’t get any better than doing my own version of The Loch Ness Monster for a major advertisement! ThatÂ’s me in the speedboat and my poor old Dad in the rowboat.

You Too can Raise Your Level Of Productivity
Now that I do all my work in Photoshop, I still can'Â’t believe I painted all those eggs by hand!
-
Maybe The Best Way To Handle Risk Is Too Avoid It Altogether
I built and photographed a foam core and paper courtyard along with a clay cobra sitting in a two inch basket I found in Chinatown.

Lighthouse
1st in a series of illustrations that were animated for a game called "Friskies Infinite World." This was my 1st experience working on a "zoom quilt", and it was great fun! Each image would flow into the other through a central portal.

Big Stuff
The Poland Spring piece was actually a portfolio sample that I did to attract clients like Minolta, and the others shown here. Billboard for Coca Cola; "Rebuilding Government," for Unix; "Popcorn Oil," for Cargill and "Blow-Dried Strawberries," created for a company that developed a process for drying produce in the field to minimize pesticide run-off into lakes & rivers.
-
Businessmen
What would a commercial art portfolio be without having illustrations of businessmen engaged in humiliating and potentially life-threatening situations? An ad for Boeing; frequent fliers for United Airlines; a couple of ads for software companies and two more pieces for Ariel.

Ariel Corporation
One of my easier modeling assignments!

Light
For Minolta, "Some People See The Light, Others See The Possibilities,"; Versed for Roche Laboratories; and a piece for Ambien CR. I actually canÂ’t remember what the top left image was done for, but IÂ’m pretty sure it had nothing to do with jock itch!

Liquid
Ads for Camel Special Lights and Haagen-Dazs; in the middle is "The EnglishmenÂ’s Guide To Survival," which is a guide to British pubs located around the world. ThatÂ’s not a condom floating in the suds, but a life raft with the author of the book relaxing in it with a beer!

Golden Corral
I created a number of icons for the restaurant's food bars.

Dining/Entertainment
Book promotional piece for the novel "Sliver," by author Ira Levin; for Alfredo of Rome, a descriptive fettucini showing the restaurants various locations; a cross promotional project for the release of "The Mummy" for Universal Studios and HersheyÂ’s; and an ad for The MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
-
Joe Camel
Some of the many pieces I contributed to the Camel campaign. Contrary to erroneous information posted on the web in the past, I am not the creator of Joe Camel, but one of many illustrators to have worked on him up until his demise. The character was actually created in the early 70Â’s by British artist Nicholas Price.

Fat Turtle
Identity art created for the Fat Turtle Bar & Grill Restaurant in St. John, Virgin Islands that was a lot of fun, especially in that I was asked to incorporate the look and personality of one of the primary investors!

Trojan
Speaking of condoms, here is the series that I did for Trojan. I really enjoyed attempting to replicate the style and motifs of Ancient Greece. After showing the client the early version replete with authentic looking cracks throughout the art, they had me remove them with the realization that it was a bad connotation to have with this product!
